Production Writing

We were sitting there on the big, bright black stage singing our lovely waiata when all of a sudden the lights turned green.

We heard the audience hush and then Mrs Wimms presenting the raffles, Mrs T asked us to etu with our heads down wiriwiri and then we new that very soon the huge curtain would go up.

As Mrs Wimms was saying her last words about the raffles I was starting to get really excited.

I heard the audience clap for all the people that had won and then as they stopped the curtain lifted I saw the gold rim for about two seconds and then it was gone.

When the crowd saw us they all cheered and I had a little smile to myself thinking that they were all supporting us, very soon they hushed again as the putatara had started to play.

I felt my heart pounding in my chest with excitement and not many but a few nerves as well.

When Dionne started the karanga we lifted our heads and about 30secs later we started to sing.

I was so happy that we had started and I couldn't wait for the next energetic, enjoyable acts that I would be in.
